According to data from password manager company

NordPass,

the most common password in the world is "password" and it took hackers under one second to crack it.

Despite the increased awareness of cybersecurity, old habits persist, says NordPass.

Many people repeatedly use the

same passwords

on multiple websites.

Most common passwords include; password, 123456, 123456789, guest, qwerty, 12345678, 111111, 12345 etc.

Bitwarden, an open-source password manager, found that 31% of US survey respondents had experienced a data breach in the past

18 months , according to their 2022 survey.

NordPass suggest choosing a complex password that is

at least 12 characters

long and contains a variety of upper and lower case letters, symbols and numbers.

Additionally, NordPass tells that inactive accounts are at online

security risk

as breaches can go unnoticed.
