Facebook parent company has finally agreed to settle the Cambridge Analytica scandal for $725 million.
This is the most Facebook has ever paid to resolve a private class action. going to Reality Labs.
Facebook had infamously shared its users’ data with the research firm Cambridge Analytica.
The settlement is not final as it requires the approval of a federal judge overseeing the class action lawsuit.
Facebook was expected to pay hundreds of millions of dollars more had it gone to trial and lost the case.
Facebook said in a filing that it has now stopped allowing third parties to access its users’ data.
Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg will answer plaintiffs’ lawyers questions.
